MRCGP AKT exam day: ID, Pearson VUE and what to bring
AKT exam day should be boring. The main risks are avoidable: missing ID, arriving late, misunderstanding the Pearson VUE booking window or assuming a reasonable adjustment can be sorted at the test centre.

RCGP requires a primary photographic ID and a secondary ID containing at least your name and signature. The names must match your RCGP application exactly.
Leave personal items in a locker
Personal belongings are not allowed in the test room. RCGP lists bags, coats, calculators, notes, phones, watches, wallets and food or drink except permitted water.
Confirm adjustments early
Reasonable adjustments need to be requested through the RCGP process with supporting evidence. Do not assume the test centre can add them on the day.
Booking the Pearson VUE test centre
RCGP says the AKT is booked through the MyRCGP process. To choose a Pearson test centre, log into MyRCGP, go to Your Exam Booking and use the Pearson access link during the published test-centre booking window.
Pearson also publishes RCGP candidate information for scheduling, rescheduling and test-centre expectations. If you need to change your test centre or time, do it inside the RCGP-defined booking period and check official instructions before cancelling anything.
Reasonable adjustments and comfort aids
RCGP has a dedicated AKT reasonable-adjustments process. It covers common adjustments such as extra time, extra breaks, access to snacks or drink, wheelchair access, a separate room, overlays and reader or scribe arrangements where appropriate.
Pearson also has a comfort-aid list for items that may be allowed without pre-approval. RCGP advises candidates bringing comfort aids to arrive at the beginning of the arrival window so Pearson has time to check them.
